By the time this concert starts, it will still be March in Charleston; but it will be April in Paris! Charleston has a deep connection to French culture and this performance will celebrate that shared legacy with well-known French music.
Take a walk in the moonlight with Claude Debussy’s Claire de lune, dance the can-can to Jacques Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld, and revel in the sounds of George Bizet’s Habanera from Carmen. In addition to these classics, the performance will also feature a gypsy jazz band with tunes made popular by Édith Piaf, Stéphane Grappelli, and Django Reinhardt. See life through rose-colored glasses with “La Vie en rose” and celebrate the charm of spring with “April in Paris,” among others.
