This September we will launch an epic season, embarking on a musical journey that is more ambitious than anything we have produced before.

You can anticipate unforgettable evenings, inspiring artistry, and countless goosebump inducing moments! If I had to pick what I’m most excited about, here goes. As a former trumpet player, I’d be remiss if I didn’t share how excited I am to welcome Maestro Carl St.Clair to conduct Bruckner’s Symphony No. 7 in November. While it may not be as familiar as Beethoven or Tchaikovsky symphonies, this work is equally as glorious and will envelop you in the comforting embrace of an old friend. Bruckner 7 is arguably one of the greatest symphonies ever composed. It requires a large orchestra and puts the full sonic splendor of our orchestra on display. Every corner of the Gaillard Center Performance Hall will be filled with heavenly sounds! You will feel this music in your bones!

I am also really looking forward to welcoming back violinist, Bella Hrisotova. She will perform Wynton Marsalis’ violin concerto, conducted by Maestro William Eddins. In my opinion, Wynton is one of the greatest living musical minds of any genre and I am excited to bring this uniquely American concerto to Charleston. Maestro Eddins brings so much passion for life and music and a real thoughtfulness to the podium, I can’t wait for him to work with our musicians and for you to experience his artistry.
